Do you base your fees on performance?

We experimented with performance-based fees in the past, but unfortunately, the clients we were working with at the time were not reliably reporting their sales figures, which brought the program to an end. While performance-based fees might seem ideal for a smaller agency serving only a few dozen clients, our extensive client base makes this approach impractical for several reasons:

 

1. Complexity in Tracking Sales Figures:

  • Tracking the sales figures for a diverse range of clients—from restaurants to local bakeries to politicians we do fundraising for—would be extremely complex. Managing and verifying these figures would become a business in itself, detracting from our primary focus of delivering effective marketing campaigns.

 

2. Ethical Concerns:

  • Basing fees on performance can lead to ethical dilemmas. For example, clients might feel pressured to inflate their reported sales figures to avoid higher fees, or conversely, underreport to reduce costs. This could create distrust and complications in the client-agency relationship.

 

3. Operational Efficiency:

  • Our business model is designed to reliably generate returns for a large number of clients. Implementing a performance-based fee structure would require extensive follow-up and verification processes, which would significantly increase our operational overhead. This is neither efficient nor enjoyable for our team, as it shifts our focus away from creating and optimizing campaigns.

 

4. Fair Compensation:

  • We prefer an economic pricing structure that ensures fair compensation for our efforts while maximizing returns for our clients. This structure allows us to dedicate our resources to delivering the best possible marketing strategies and results, without the added burden of performance-based financial tracking.

Given these considerations, we believe that a straightforward fee structure is the most effective way to serve our clients. This approach allows us to focus on what we do best—providing high-quality marketing services that drive growth and success for your business.
